Can we talk about AI content scoring tools that miss the point
I keep seeing marketers brag about their AI content getting 90+ scores on those optimization tools. But here's what I noticed after running 200+ pieces through these systems last quarter: they reward keyword stuffing and generic structure over actual usefulness. A tool like MarketMuse or Clearscope will tell you to mention a term 15 times per 1,000 words, but human readers can smell that from a mile away. I had a client in Chicago whose blog traffic actually dropped 40% after they started chasing perfect scores. The AI was fine, but the writing turned into robot garbage. Nobody stayed on the page because it was boring. Has anyone else seen these score-chasers hurt their engagement numbers?

My Chicago client actually saw their bounce rate jump to 68% after they started using one of those tools religiously. I dug into it and found the tool was encouraging them to repeat a keyword like "best accounting software" 18 times in a 900 word post, which made every paragraph feel like a broken record. Human readers would hit that third mention and click back to search results within 10 seconds. The real issue nobody talks about is these tools optimize for search engine bots not for the person reading on their phone at 2am, so you end up with content that passes a machine check but fails the basic readability test.

Honestly, I think you're being too hard on those tools. If the user blindly follows every suggestion without thinking, that's on them, not the software - a good writer can adjust keyword density without ruining readability.
