Had a client in Portland ask me a question that made me rethink my whole chatbot setup
We were going over the analytics for their lead gen bot last week, and they pointed at a specific drop-off point and just asked, 'What if the bot is being too helpful too fast?' It hit me that I'd been so focused on solving problems instantly that I wasn't letting the conversation build any trust. I spent the weekend tweaking the script to ask one more qualifying question before giving the full answer. Has anyone else found that slowing the bot down a bit actually improved conversion?

Seriously, it's just a chatbot.

Hold up, you want to make a robot less efficient? People click for answers, not small talk. If I ask a bot for store hours, I want them now, not a question about my weekend plans first. That extra click is just a chance for them to leave. Why add friction on purpose? Speed builds trust by showing you can actually fix their problem.
