Hot take: AI chatbots are destroying real marketing strategy, not helping it

Last month I watched a guy in Denver spend 3 hours tweaking a GPT prompt for ad copy when he could have just talked to 5 customers. Has anyone else noticed people relying on AI to skip the actual thinking part of marketing?

Spending time on prompts instead of actual customers is crazy to me.

Wait, are you saying they're spending more time crafting the perfect prompt than actually talking to customers? lol That's wild to me because prompts are just tools - they don't replace real human connection. I've seen people obsess over getting the AI to say exactly the right thing but then completely miss what their actual customers are telling them in real time. It's like practicing a speech for hours but ignoring the audience's reactions when you finally give it. The whole point of prompts is to save time so you can focus on the people you're serving. If you're spending more time tweaking prompts than listening to customers, you've completely lost the plot. Real people want to feel heard and understood, not just processed through a perfectly optimized bot. At the end of the day, no prompt can replace genuine empathy and attention. Customers can tell when you're phoning it in through automation, and they'll go somewhere that actually cares about their problems.
