Just realized my AI ad copy is too polished and it's hurting conversions
Last week I ran a split test on two versions of the same Facebook ad for my online course. Version A was written by ChatGPT with all the bells and whistles, clean grammar, perfect flow. Version B I typed up myself with a typo in the headline and a kinda awkward sentence in the middle. Version B got 34% more clicks and 22% more sales. I was floored, I mean we spend so much time making AI output sound flawless but people actually seem to trust the messy, human-sounding stuff more. It makes me wonder if we're over-optimizing for readability when we should be optimizing for authenticity. Has anyone else seen this pattern with their AI generated content, or do you think I just got lucky with my specific audience? I'm honestly torn between going back to fully human copy or leaning into a hybrid approach where I leave some roughness on purpose.

The polish thing is totally backwards when you think about it. We spend all this time making AI sound smarter than us, but people buy from people, not from robots pretending to be perfect. Hybrid is the way, just write it yourself then have AI fix the actual grammar crimes, but leave the weird phrasing that makes it sound like a human actually typed it.
