My friend told me to stop using AI for email subject lines and just write them myself, said the AI ones were 'obvious'. I tried it for a month and my open rates went up 12%.

No kidding, same thing happened with my newsletter. The AI lines were all like "Weekly Update: Issue #47" and sounded so robotic. I switched to just asking a quick question about the main topic, like "Stuck on this coding problem?" and it made a huge difference.

What kind of emails were you sending?

robin836 asked what kind of emails, and I think thats the real trick people miss. The AI works okay for generic stuff like newsletters or sales blasts, but the moment you get into personal replies or customer service follow ups, it screams "robot." I had to ditch it completely for those because people could tell and it hurt my response rates. Its fine for bulk junk but not for anything where you need a real human connection.
