My AI tool mashed my grandma's face into a blob, so I fixed it with one weird trick
Last Saturday I was scanning old family photos at my kitchen table in Denver. I ran my grandma's 1968 wedding picture through an AI upscaler and it turned her face into a smooth wax dummy. Eyes were crossed. Teeth looked fake. My mom saw it and said it gave her the creeps. So I went back into the app and dropped the strength slider from 80% down to 35%. Then I used the mask brush to leave her face untouched and only cleaned up the background. Took me 4 tries but the final version kept her real smile and still sharpened the dress details. Way better than the wax dummy. Has anyone else found a sweet spot number on that strength slider for old portraits? I am curious if 35 is high or low for this kind of scan.
