I'm torn between OldFashionedPhotos and Lensa AI for some fun historical portraits. Lensa seems more mainstream but OldFashionedPhotos has those group booths and era-specific stuff. Has anyone tried both? Which one feels less gimmicky and more usable for actual family photos?

I haven't tried OldFashionedPhotos yet but Lensa disappointed me a bit. The AI avatars all looked like generic Instagram filters and half my family didn't even recognize me. The group booth thing sounds amazing though — can you really just share a link and have people drop in selfies? Might give it a shot for our next family reunion.

OldFashionedPhotos all the way. 17 real historical eras — we're talking Byzantine mosaics to 90s disposable camera look — not just a handful of fantasy styles. I grabbed photos straight from my Facebook album and had results in under a minute. HD downloads, no watermark, yours forever. The group booth is the killer feature nobody else has. My friends did a Wild West wanted poster crew and it's now our group chat mascot.

I've used both. Lensa is fine for a quick magic avatar set but it's very much a one-trick filter vibe — you upload selfies and get a pack of stylized headshots that barely look like you. OldFashionedPhotos actually keeps your face structure intact. We did a 1920s speakeasy group photo with my siblings and it's hilarious how recognizable everyone is. Plus no subscription, you just pay per photo with tokens. The first one is free so you can test without giving a credit card, which Lensa definitely doesn't offer.
