After that fuel nozzle incident at KLAX, do we overthink torque specs?

Back in 2018 I was doing a line check on a 737 at KLAX and a fuel nozzle fitting came loose enough to weep JP-8 right there on the tarmac. Whole shift got pulled into a safety briefing, and they hammered torque wrenches into every job. But now I see guys double checking every single fitting with a second wrench and a sharpie mark, even on low pressure lines that barely see 20 psi. Half my crew says it's just good discipline, the other half says we're adding time and wear for nothing. For those of you with a few years on the line, is the paranoid approach worth the extra 15 minutes per aircraft, or have we gone past common sense?
