Ngl, changing your mind on torque wrenches after a 737 main wheel job is a pretty big deal. What specifically made you flip on them - was it a stripped bolt, a click that felt wrong, or just the sheer panic of overtorquing something that holds a plane together? Honestly, I've always been on the fence about them too, but hearing someone with actual heavy jet experience change their mind makes me curious. Tbh, I've seen guys on light aircraft just reef on the lug nuts with a breaker bar and call it good, and that always gave me the creeps. Did you have a specific moment during that job where you thought, "Yeah, this is why you can't just eyeball it"?

That 250 ft-lb number on the 737 main wheel lug nuts really got my attention. I was about three bolts in, just using my old beam-style wrench, and I realized I had no idea if the clicker type I'd been ignoring for years was actually more accurate. It hit me when I saw a coworker's digital torque wrench start buzzing right at the spec, and I just stood there thinking, "Man, my whole life could be a lie and I never knew it." Honestly, I think I've been using a torque wrench wrong for so long that it's a miracle I haven't launched a wheel across the hangar by accident. Now I feel like the guy who finally admits his favorite hammer is actually a fancy paperweight.
