Finally saw the difference after swapping to lithium grease on flap jackscrews

I was having issues with those flap jackscrews binding up after about 50 hours on a 737. Old timer at the shop said try lithium grease instead of the general purpose stuff. After 3 months of using it, the wear marks are way lighter and the screws move smoother. Anyone else stick with one type of grease for certain parts?

Same here, that old timer probably forgot more than I'll ever know about grease." I was fighting with those jackscrews on an older 737 a while back, they'd start sticking and squeaking after a few trips. Swapped over to lithium grease and it was like night and day, they didn't gum up nearly as fast. The wear on the threads after a couple hundred hours was maybe half of what I was used to seeing. I still keep a tube of the cheap stuff for less fussy parts but that lithium is the only thing I trust for those flap screws now.

Lithium's the way to go for sure. Makes all the difference.
