Had a talk with a QA inspector from Delta yesterday that completely flipped my view on torque wrenches
He said he finds at least one mis-torqued fastener per shift on line maintenance and it got me wondering how many of us are actually getting our tools calibrated on schedule or just winging it like I have been for the past 2 years.

You ever had a buddy who just laughs off stuff like that, thinking he's fine? My friend Mark figured his torque wrench was good enough for years until his axle nut came loose on the highway, real scary stuff. Turns out his wrench was way off, and he ended up spending way more on repairs than he ever would on a simple calibration.

Did that buddy of yours ever say exactly what was off on his torque wrench? @skyler_white it's always scary hearing about axle nuts coming loose. My old man had a similar deal with lug nuts on his truck. One popped off on the interstate. Cost him a new wheel and tire combo. He still never calibrates his stuff though. Some people just don't learn til something bad happens.
