Had to choose between quick patch versus a proper splice on a 737 tail today

Our lead was pushing me to just do the quick patch to get the plane out on time. I went with the proper splice instead, took an extra 45 minutes. Turned out the corrosion was way deeper than I thought, so that patch would've failed within a week. Has anyone else had to push back against the schedule to do it right?

Stood my ground on a C130 horizontal stab once when the lead wanted a field repair to make a sortie. Found three layers of delamination under the skin that would've grounded us for weeks if we'd slapped it together.

Read a report once where maintenance found hidden corrosion on a C-5's wing spar during a routine inspection on a Friday afternoon. Lead tried to push it through with just a visual patch, but the techs insisted on pulling the panels. Turned out there was a whole strip of corrosion eating into a critical load path that would've snapped under heavy stress. They ended up replacing a six-foot section of the spar and delaying the sortie by two days. That kind of call probably saved lives down the line. Good on you for trusting your gut over the pressure.
