Just logged my 500th hour on the CRJ-700 landing gear overhaul and realized I've never seen a manual call for that specific torque sequence.
One side swears the manual's sequence is gospel to prevent binding, while the other says a calibrated 'feel' from experience is just as good if you hit the final spec.

Oh man, that "manual is gospel" debate is a classic. I get why they say it, but 500 hours gives you a serious feel for the work too. Tough spot to be in.

Ugh, I read this article where a master carpenter said his hands learned things no book could ever teach him. But he still checks the manual for the numbers!

Haha right? My hands definitely have a mind of their own when it comes to fixing stuff around the house, but my brain still double checks the instruction manual like I'm taking a test I'm gonna fail. Guess some things never change!
