Spent $90 on a torque wrench from Harbor Freight. Got burned.
Picked it up last Tuesday for a quick job on a Cessna 172. Figured it'd hold up for one torque cycle on the prop bolts. Snapped clean at 80 ft-lbs and left a gouge in the bolt head. Boss chewed me out for 10 minutes. Ended up borrowing a Snap-On from the old guy across the hangar. Anyone else trust a cheap tool once and regret it?

Wait, you snapped a torque wrench at 80 ft-lbs on a plane? That's not just a bad tool, that's a safety hazard waiting to happen. I'd be scared to trust my hands with anything from that store after seeing that fail so hard. Glad the old guy had a proper Snap-On to save the day though.

Wait, did you check the calibration sticker before you used it or just assume it was good out of the box?
