That old-timer in Tulsa was right about safety wire twists

He told me 11 twists per inch on a 3/32 cable is the only way to keep a turnbuckle from backing out, and after watching a rudder cable slop around on a Cessna 172 with the textbook 9, I've been counting every twist since, has anyone else found the military spec beats the manual every time?
