Torque wrench calibration myth finally busted after a nose gear job

Snap-on guy always said recalibrate every 12 months, but I ran my 3/8 drive for five years with zero issues until a main wheel lug nut came loose at 40,000 feet. The in-flight vibration did the damage, not the missed schedule, so I started spot-checking with a beam type every quarter instead. Anyone else ditch the annual calibration and just verify before critical work?
