Watched a senior mechanic fix a stuck valve cover with a rubber mallet and a zip tie
Last month at the hangar in Phoenix, I spent 20 minutes wrestling with a stuck valve cover on a 737 until a guy I work with walked over and looped a zip tie through the bolt hole to pull it free. He tapped the cover with a rubber mallet while I pulled the zip tie and it popped right off without any damage. Has anyone else used zip ties to break stubborn seals or am I the last one to catch onto this trick?

Ha, @karenw23 I bet you've never spent an afternoon cussing out a stuck fastener in 110 degree heat either. Makes me think of the time my buddy tried to use a shoelace to pull a seized oil filter off his truck. It didn't work but we sure laughed about it later.
