Can we talk about how stormy weather tests wireless alarms?

Honestly, had a job where heavy rain messed with the signals last month. We never had those issues with the old wired systems I started with. But clients love the easy setup of wireless kits now. Do you think wired is still the way to go for reliability, or is wireless good enough most days?

Yeah, that bit about betting against the weather report is too real. Had a motion sensor on a garage go completely dead for a whole weekend after some heavy rain, and of course that's when every little noise had me looking out the window. Wireless is so much easier to set up, but you're totally trading that for praying to the sky gods sometimes.

We lost a door sensor for two days after a big thunderstorm last year, which was a real pain. I mean, my whole setup is wireless now because I’m too lazy to run cables, but it does feel like I’m betting against the weather report sometimes. It’s probably just me, but my reliability plan is mostly hoping it doesn’t rain hard. Wireless is fine ninety-five percent of the time, but that other five percent when the signal drops, you really miss the old wired bones of a system. I guess it comes down to whether you can live with that rare glitch for the easier install.

My garage camera used to drop out every time we got a heavy downpour. I ended up moving the main hub to a more central spot in the house and that cut the dropouts by like 80 percent. It's still not perfect, but a better router placement can make a huge difference for those weak signals. Sometimes the fix is just moving stuff around before you give up and start drilling holes for wires.
