Hot take: hardwired zones beat wireless in most retrofit jobs
I see everyone pushing wireless panels for existing homes but I did a 1970s split level last month and ran 8 hardwired zones in 4 hours. The customer's plaster walls ate two wireless sensors before noon because of signal bounce. I learned that slow drilling with a good paddle bit and fish rods gets through old lath way cleaner than any mesh network. Has anyone else found that wireless drops more false alarms in older construction?

Figure out what works where and stick with it, same reason I keep a corded drill for plaster walls instead of messing with battery life halfway through a cut. It's like how my grandpa's old cast iron skillet cooks better than any nonstick pan, because sometimes the "outdated" method just handles the material better. Wireless has its place, but old construction has its own rules that don't care about your tech hype.
