Just realized my panel is drawing 300mA in standby and the battery went dead in 4 hours

Checked a system I installed last month after the customer called saying the keypad went dark, and the panel was pulling way more than the spec sheet says. Has anyone else seen the Vista 20p secretly drain battery like that?

Have you checked to see if maybe the keypad is backlighting nonstop? I read somewhere that the Vista 20p has a known issue where the aux power can get stuck on if you're using certain wireless receivers. One guy on a forum said his panel was pulling like 400mA because the 6160 keypad LED was staying lit 24/7 instead of dimming. Your mileage may vary, but try pulling the keypad wire and see if the drain drops back to normal. I'd double check the battery too, a weak one can pull extra current trying to charge up.

Did you actually test that by pulling the keypad wire or just throw a meter on the battery? I'd be curious what the standby current reads with the keypad disconnected vs connected.
