Question about buying a high-end panel - worth it or just flashy?

I dropped $450 on a top-tier alarm panel last month for a new install, thinking it would be a game-changer with all its smart home integration and app control. So far, it's been a mixed bag. The cellular backup and battery life are solid, but the setup was way more complicated than a standard Qolsys or Honeywell panel. On the flip side, I've had clients who love the remote arming and camera tie-ins, and it definitely looks more modern in a custom home. But for a basic security setup, I'm starting to think a $200 panel with a reliable keypad does the same job without the headache. Has anyone else gone big on a premium panel and felt like you overpaid, or do you think it's the way to go for new builds?

Buddy of mine put a fancy panel in his flip house. Took him three days to get the app to sync right. Ended up just giving the new owners the old keypad code.

How much time do you want to spend messing with the thing after it's mounted? For a quick flip or basic install, I'd keep it simple. I've seen guys spend half a day just trying to get the wifi modules to play nice with the customer's router, and that's time you don't get back. For new builds where the owner wants to geek out on the app and cameras, the premium stuff can be fine, but for a straight forward job a basic panel gets the alarm on the wall and the client happy.
