That DSC panel trick with the jumper on zone 7 saved me 45 minutes today
I used to always run separate wires for every single zone on my commercial installs, but a senior guy at my shop showed me how to use the zone doubling feature on DSC panels to save wire and time. On a 20 zone church job last Tuesday it cut my wiring time nearly in half and the panel programmed fine without any issues. Has anyone else switched to using this method on larger jobs or do you still prefer running individual wires?

You said it cut your wiring time in half, but I'd rather spend the extra 45 minutes running individual wires than come back two years later to troubleshoot some zone doubling issue." I've seen too many service calls where the jumper trick causes ghost zones or false alarms, and homeowners never forgive you for the nuisance. Individual wires are just more reliable in the long run, even if it costs a bit more time upfront.

Totally feel you on this one, it's rough when a shortcut you trusted ends up coming back to bite everyone. Have you had to go back and rewire a system that was originally done that way?
