That school job in Phoenix that made me question everything about motion sensors
We did a retrofit at a middle school off the 101 last spring, and the principal insisted on putting motion sensors in every classroom even though the janitorial crew works overnight. We warned them about the false alarm risk, but they said it was non-negotiable for the insurance discount. First week, we got 14 trips between midnight and 4 AM, all from the cleaning staff setting off the hall sensors while carrying ladders and carts. My partner thinks we should have pushed back harder and refused to install until they changed the schedule, but I still say our job is to give the customer what they ask for and document the risks. Which side do you fall on when a client ignores your professional advice but signs the paperwork anyway?
