The way most people mount motion sensors is backwards

I noticed it at three houses last week alone. They put them facing windows or glass doors. That's how you get false alarms from passing cars or sunlight changes. The lens should be pointed toward interior walking paths. I spent 15 minutes fixing a system that had 4 false alarms in one night just because of placement. You have to think about what the sensor actually sees. Anyone else run into this issue with DIY install jobs?

I kind of get what you're saying, but I actually think pointing them at windows catches driveway motion better.

My neighbor Bob set his up pointing at his oak tree cause he saw a raccoon once. For two weeks straight it recorded nothing but leaves falling and a stray cat. He finally moved it to face his driveway and caught three package thieves in one month. Sometimes you just gotta test things out for yourself.
