TIL my panel firmware was 8 years out of date

Was swapping a keypad at a condo in Portland last Tuesday and decided to check the panel version. Turns out the firmware was from 2016, way behind. The new one fixed a false alarm bug I'd been chasing for months. Anyone else ignore firmware updates until something breaks?

Damn, 2016? That's practically ancient in tech years lol. I bet that thing was running on hopes and prayers. The false alarm thing is wild though, I had a similar issue with an old panel at a rental property that would randomly go off at 3am. Replaced the whole board and it stopped. Firmware updates are like brushing your teeth, nobody does it until the dentist yells at them.
