Watching a crew in Tulsa run zone tests taught me to slow down
About 12 years ago I was helping wire a small office build off Peoria in Tulsa, and the lead guy ran every zone test twice before we touched a single keypad. I used to rush that step, slap a resistor on and call it good. He caught two reversed reed switches on the front doors that I know I would have missed. Since then I budget a full hour just for walk tests, even on a tiny 8 zone house. What's your go-to trick for catching a flaky contact before the homeowner does?
