My supervising PT said my posture cue was wrong for 3 years
At my clinic in Austin last Tuesday, my supervising PT watched me correct a patient's shoulder position and said, 'Youre cueing the scapula, not the movement.' Ive been using the same verbal cue since school and never thought about the difference until they broke down how it changes muscle timing. Anyone else had a supervisor flip a core habit like that, and how did you adjust without losing confidence in front of patients?

...and honestly that's the thing that got me, how do you even catch that in real time? Like were they watching you specifically for cue timing or did they just happen to notice it while observing your session? Because that changes whether you need to rework your whole approach or just tweak when you say things. The muscle timing piece makes total sense when they explain it, but in the moment with a patient staring at you, it's hard to pause and rethink your whole verbal pattern. Did your supervisor give you a specific replacement cue or just tell you the problem and make you figure it out on your own?
