TIL that in 1995 there were only about 40 accredited respiratory therapy programs in the whole country
I was digging through some old program lists at the library last month and ran into a stat that stopped me cold. My aunt trained as a respiratory therapist back then in Ohio, and she always said her class was tiny, but I didn't get how tiny until I saw the number. Now there are hundreds of programs and a ton more people in the field, which makes me wonder how the old-timers learned half of what they know. Did anyone here train back in those days? I'd love to hear what it was actually like.
