Brought home a roll of XP2 Super from a garage sale for $3 and I'm never going back to Tri-X
Guy in Pottstown had a box of old film hidden under some vinyl records. Three bucks for one roll that expired in 2018. I figured why not. Developed it at the lab down the street and the grain is just so much smoother than what I get with Tri-X. Has anyone else switched emulsions based on a random find like this?

Nobody mentions how garage sale film has a weird personality that fresh film just can't copy.

Stop trying to explain it like it's some deep secret and just admit it's true. Garage sale film has this rough, unpredictable vibe because it's been sitting in someone's hot attic for 20 years. Fresh film is too clean and perfect, like a new car that still smells like plastic. It's the same reason old records sound warmer than Spotify streams or why a beat-up baseball glove feels better than a new one. We're all chasing that bit of chaos in our lives, even if we don't say it out loud. That's just how things work, isn't it?
