Had a weird week where every single roll came out blank

I shot 4 rolls on a trip to Portland last month and when I developed them at home, all of them came out completely clear. Turns out my Nikon FE's shutter was firing but the mirror wasn't flipping out of the way, so no light ever hit the film. Cost me about $60 in film and chemicals to learn that lesson. Has anyone else had a camera fail in a way that didn't seem obvious at first?

37 years of this stuff and I've noticed it's just like when my car starts making a noise but the dashboard says everything's fine. You trust the thing that's supposed to tell you what's wrong and it's the thing that's lying.

Oh man, that's a painful one. I had a similar thing happen with my old Canon AE-1 where the shutter curtains started sticking, so I'd get these random completely blank frames in the middle of a roll. Didn't catch it for like three rolls (I was blaming myself for loading the film wrong). So frustrating to waste all that time and money on a mechanical issue you couldn't even see happening.
