Heard a guy at the darkroom say he compensates for underexposed rolls by pushing development two stops

Tried it on a roll of Tri-X I messed up last week and saved half the frames, but the grain got so chunky it looked like gravel.

Used to think pushing was always the fix, but damn that grain gets ugly fast.

Holy crap, that grain really does get trashed when you push it wrong.

Is the grain really that bad if you're already shooting a high-speed look on Tri-X? I've had some pushed rolls come out super rough, sure, but with the right agitation you can keep the grain a little more manageable. @lee.lucas has a point about it getting ugly fast, but sometimes that gritty texture actually works for the mood I'm going for.
