Lost a whole roll of vacation photos to a bad development day

Last summer I spent a week in Portland shooting some amazing street scenes. Got home, developed the Tri-X roll myself. Every single frame came out blank. No image at all. Turns out my developer solution was too old. Had been sitting in my closet for 8 months. Has anyone else ruined a whole roll from expired chemicals? I need to start labeling dates better.

Wait, did you test the developer before pouring it in?

oh man i totally used to skip testing it lol. i thought it was just extra work and the color would come out fine anyway. but one time i poured in some old developer and my roots turned out way lighter than the rest of my hair. never again, now i always test a little bit first.
