My Yashica-Mat shutter jammed mid-roll on Saturday, lost 12 shots
Was shooting a friend's wedding party in a park near downtown, went to advance the film and the crank just stopped. Felt like sand inside. Took it to a repair guy on Monday, says the old grease got sticky and gummed up the shutter blades. Cost me $80 to get it cleaned and adjusted. Anyone else have a camera freeze up at the worst possible time?

Did the repair guy mention if it was a specific brand of grease they used before, or just some old random stuff? I've heard some of those old Yashicas had a weird mix of lubricants that would turn into basically glue after 20 years. Curious if yours was the standard issue gunk or something special. Because $80 feels like a fair price for a full CLA on a Mat, but I'd want to know exactly what got swapped out in there.

Ugh, that's brutal! My old Canonet seized up right as I was trying to capture the bouquet toss at my cousin's wedding last summer. Guess the universe was trying to tell me something about my photography skills, eh?
