Printed my first roll from 1998 and the difference is hilarious
I dug out an old roll of Kodak Gold that sat in a hot car for 26 years and developed it last week. The colors came out all washed out and pink compared to a fresh roll I shot at the same park today. Has anyone else tried developing really old film and got weird results?

Yeah but "just basic chemistry" feels like it misses the fun part. Nobody's out here saying it's a mystery, it's more like the surprise of seeing how much life happens to a roll of film in 26 years. That comparison shot is the whole point, seeing what time did to it versus now.

Well, I have to ask if it's really that big of a deal. Film from 1998 sitting in a hot car for 26 years, of course it's going to look different. That's just basic chemistry, not some kind of mystery. People act like finding old film is a treasure hunt, but it's really just a roll that got baked.
