Spent $80 on a bulk lot of 120 film that was all fogged
Found a deal on eBay last month for 10 rolls of Portra 160 in 120 format. Looked fine in the listing, seller said they were stored in a closet. Developed the first roll today and it's completely fogged, like a grey veil over every shot. Checked the other rolls and the foil seals are all puffed out from heat damage. That's $80 down the drain and a whole afternoon of shooting wasted. Has anyone else gotten burned buying bulk film from sellers who can't prove storage conditions?

Yeah that's tough, @the_fiona. Really feel for you on this one. eBay's refund process can be a real headache sometimes.

That $80 loss stings, but what really gets me is how the seller described them as "closet stored" when the foil seals were puffed. Did the listing have any photos of the actual seals or was it just the exterior boxes? Seems like a red flag I should have caught myself. A quick search would have shown that puffed seals are a dead giveaway for heat damage, but I trusted the description too much. Did you ever get a partial refund or did eBay side with the seller on that one?
