Forgot to advance the film after a shot in Yellowstone
I was at Old Faithful last summer, got the perfect composition, wind was calm, light was beautiful. Took the shot, rewound the film later, and realized I never advanced the frame - wasted a whole roll because I was too excited. Has anyone else done this and found a way to remember besides just slowing down?

Yeah you ever felt that sick feeling in your gut when you realize what you did? Happened to me twice before I finally drilled it into my head. I started tapping the rewind knob after every shot to check if it's tight, that's a quick physical check that doesn't break your rhythm. Another thing that helped was getting a film holder that clips onto my belt loop and just making it a habit to advance right after the shutter click, before I even lower the camera. If you really want to be safe, some of the older cameras have a little window that shows if the film is moving, but honestly just building the muscle memory of advance-click-advance works. Sucks that you lost a roll at Old Faithful though, that's a tourist trap you only want to shoot once.

Man that gut drop when you realize is the worst. I feel for you, it's a lesson nobody wants to learn the hard way.

Have you tried sticking a piece of tape over the rewind knob after you advance? I did that after losing a roll at Bryce Canyon, worked like a charm cause you physically have to remove it before rewinding. Just leaves a little residue but totally worth it.
