Got my 500th roll developed yesterday, that box I kept is getting heavy

I have been saving every developed roll of 35mm I've shot since 2018 in a shoebox under my desk. Yesterday I dropped off roll number 500 at the lab and realized I have almost five years of random street shots, family gatherings, and vacation photos stacked up. Anyone else keep their old rolls or do you toss the canisters after scanning?

Same deal here but I switched to a plastic container once the shoe box got full. I have rolls going back to 2016 and I don't throw anything away until I know the scans are good and backed up. That canister stack adds up fast especially if you shoot a lot of black and white. What worked for me was labeling the side of each can with a sharpie the month and year before I even drop them off. Then when they come back I just toss them in the container in order. Saves you from having to guess what's what later.

Wait, you label them BEFORE dropping off? That's genius actually. I've been playing guessing games with unmarked canisters for years.
