Guy at the camera shop in Boise said I'm wasting money on cheap film, and now I can't decide if he's right
Last week I brought in 3 rolls I shot on a $4 roll of film and the guy behind the counter told me I was wasting my time and should only shoot the pricey stuff if I care about my photos. I've been shooting that cheap stock for about 2 years and honestly some of my best shots came off it. He kept saying the grain and colors fall apart, but that grain is half the reason I shoot film in the first place. I get that fancy stock has tighter grain and better latitude, but it costs 3x as much and I don't always need that. It kind of bugged me that he acted like anyone shooting budget film doesn't care about their work. Has anyone else had a shop guy tell them their film choice was wrong, and did you actually switch?
