My cheap plastic enlarger timer beat my fancy digital one

For months I trusted this $140 digital timer with a backlit screen, but it kept drifting by half a second on long exposures. Last week I dug out a 1970s GraLab mechanical timer from a flea market for $8 and it's been dead accurate every single print. Anyone else find older gear just works better for darkroom stuff?

Half a second on a long exposure, that's a pretty small window most people wouldn't even notice. My cheap Amazon timer drifts a bit too but it's never ruined a print for me.
