Stop loading film in direct sunlight like I saw 3 people do at the park yesterday

I watched three folks at Golden Gate Park wreck their rolls because they changed film in broad daylight - that little bit of sun hitting the spool will fog your first 5-6 shots every time. Has anyone else had to rescue a friend from this mistake before they even developed the roll?

100 foot rolls of bulk film taught me this lesson the hard way maybe 15 years ago. @noah_barnes I get why people think a jacket or their own shadow is enough but in my experience that reflected light from the ground or a nearby wall still gets in. You gotta be more deliberate about it than most folks realize. The haze on those sunset shots is exactly what happens when UV hits the spool before you get the canister sealed up. I usually just find a bathroom or a car with tinted windows if I absolutely have to change film in the middle of a roll outside.

Changed film in broad daylight" lmao I just yelled at my buddy for doing the same thing last weekend. He was all "it's fine bro" and then his first 8 shots came back with that weird foggy haze over the top half lol. He was so pissed when he saw his photos of the sunset. I told him to at least use his body or a jacket to shield the spool next time.
