Dude at the flea market in Tulsa told me my "one coin a week" rule was making me miss the good stuff, and honestly he might be right
Last Saturday I was at the Tulsa flea market digging through a $5 bin of junk world coins and this older guy named Dale next to me noticed I kept putting coins back and only pocketing one per visit. He asked why and I told him I had this dumb rule from my first year hunting where I'd only buy one coin per trip to keep my spending under control. Dale laughed and pulled out a ziplock with like 14 crusty Roman bronzes he'd grabbed for 20 bucks total at an estate sale in Broken Arrow, then said "you can't learn a coin if you leave it in the bin." That kind of hit me because he was right, I'd passed on a really worn 1800s seated liberty dime two months back just to stick to my rule. Since then I bumped my budget to $25 per trip and my little album has doubled, even if half of them are slicked out and probably not worth grading. I still don't know if buying in bulk is the move or if I'm just hoarding junk now though. Has anyone else had a rule like this that some random stranger totally changed your mind on?
