My old leather pouch split open on a dig in Vermont

Was out near a farmhouse foundation outside Burlington last weekend and my crusty old leather coin pouch just gave up, seam ripped right down the side. Everything spilled into the dirt, about 14 coppers and a couple of buttons, and I had to crawl around picking them out one by one like a fool. It was 40 years old, my dad used it before me, but I guess the stitching finally rotted. Anyone else had a carrying bag or pouch fail on them mid-hunt, and what do you use now that's actually tough? I'm thinking of just using a plastic tube for each coin now.
