Rant: my $40 pinpointer beats the fancy detector on trashy park ground every time

Hunted a torn-up lot off Route 9 in Poughkeepsie last Saturday and pulled 6 keepers in 2 hours just working the dirt piles with the cheap pointer, because the big machine was too busy singing at every pull tab to hear anything. Anyone else find the little tool does the heavy lifting once the ground gets nasty?
