That $60 microscope attachment for IDing tiny details was a bust
Picked up a clip-on microscope for my phone at a flea market last month, figured it would help me read the worn letters on a 1700s coin I found near an old church foundation. It worked great on paper money, but on metal it just reflected glare and showed scratches I already saw with my naked eye. Paid $60 for it, and the loupe I already had does the same job if I hold it close and use a flashlight. Anyone else wasted money on gear that sounds perfect for this hobby but falls flat on actual dirt-caked coins?
