That one week I pulled two silver dimes from the same park sandbox

Back in the summer of 2018 I hit a little park near my shop in Omaha that nobody ever hunts. I'm talking overgrown grass, old playground equipment from the 60s, the works. First day I got a 1964 Roosevelt dime about 3 inches down near a rusty swing set. I was stoked enough, figured that was my luck for the month. Then I went back the next day and pulled a 1946 Mercury dime less than 20 feet away in the same sandbox. I swear the ground felt different, like it hadn't been touched since those kids dropped them decades ago. I went back the rest of that week every evening and found nothing but pull tabs and crushed cans. Still, that two day stretch made up for a whole summer of skunking out. Anyone else ever hit a spot that just gave up the goods in a rush like that?

Heard a guy on a podcast talk about how old playgrounds are basically time capsules because kids lose stuff and nobody bothers to dig for it. That lines up with your find, especially if the sandbox hasn't been turned over in decades. Makes me wish I'd hit more playgrounds back when I started detecting instead of chasing old cellar holes.
