Why did nobody tell me about washing machine finds sooner?

Found a 1943 steel penny wedged inside the drum seal of a washing machine I was fixing last month in Akron. The owner said the machine came from her grandma's house and nobody had opened that seal in 20 years. It got me thinking about all the hiding spots in old appliances nobody checks. I've been hunting parks and fields for 5 years but never thought about dumpster-picked washers or dryers. Anyone else dig through old appliances at flea markets or salvage yards for coins?
