Why does everyone hype the beach finds, my worst week was all sand and trash
Spent last Tuesday through Saturday combing every low tide spot near Cape Cod with a cheap pinpointer, pulled maybe 30 pull tabs and a bent fork, zero coins. The forums make beach hunting sound like a jackpot, but my soggy sneakers and a blister on my heel tell a different story. Anyone else have a desert stretch that made them question the whole hobby, or do I just pick the wrong spots?

My first year I hit the same stretch of beach in Maine for three straight weekends and came home with nothing but a corroded buckle. The trick is timing, you want to hit the beach right after a big storm or nor'easter, not during a calm week when the sand just piles up. Also, look for dark sand lines or shells where the heavier stuff sinks down, and work the wet sand close to the water line instead of the dry area. Give it a shot in the fall when the crowds leave, I found my first silver coin that way.
