A blunt comment from my building's super changed my bin game
I used to just toss everything in one countertop pail and deal with it weekly, but our super, Dave, told me my bin smelled like a swamp in July. He suggested freezing scraps in a repurposed 2-liter soda bottle and adding a handful of shredded junk mail every layer, so now I do that and empty it every 5 days. The smell is basically gone and it's way less of a mess, plus the freezer trick works even in my 400 sq ft studio. Anyone else get a fix from a landlord or neighbor that made them feel dumb in hindsight?

Did Dave charge you for that life hack, or was it free with the swamp lecture? I had a neighbor who told me to keep a coffee can of baking soda near my trash and it worked way better than any expensive bin spray I'd bought.
