Had to choose between a bokashi bin and a worm tower for my tiny kitchen in Chicago
My counter space is basically non existent so I spent a whole weekend watching videos and comparing. Went with the worm tower because I read bokashi can get stinky if you don't layer it just right. Been 3 months now and the worms are doing okay but man they are picky eaters. They won't touch citrus peels at all. Has anyone else had worms just refuse certain scraps?

Oh have you tried freezing the citrus peels first? I read somewhere that breaks down the oils that worms hate. My bin had this weird standoff with avocado skins for like two months straight. They just sat there completely untouched looking all bumpy and gross. Meanwhile my roommate threw in some coffee grounds and suddenly the whole bin went crazy like a food court at lunchtime. Now I just avoid citrus altogether and stick to the stuff they actually like.

Huh, interesting about the avocado skins. Have you tried putting the citrus peels in a mesh bag first? Lets the worms get at them slowly without overwhelming the bin with oils all at once.
