I gave up on bokashi bins after 6 months of moldy frustration
I used to swear by bokashi bins for my tiny studio in Chicago. Thought the fermenting thing was genius for apartment living. But after 6 months I had mold growing on the bran layer and it smelled like a rotten pickle factory. Now I just use a simple worm bin under my sink. It's way less fussy and my worms handle everything from coffee grounds to crushed eggshells. Has anyone else ditched bokashi for worms and never looked back?

Whoa, I actually heard this one gardening expert on the radio say bokashi works way better if you drain the liquid every few days and keep the bin sealed tight. But man, that just sounds like too much work for me. I tried worms once but my cats kept messing with the bin, so I just stick to a regular compost pile in my backyard.
